Cinema and Disability Panel as Part of the Vues d'Afrique Festival

You are cordially invited to participate in the panel discussion "Cinema and Disability" organized as part of the Vues d'Afrique festival. This event will take place on Wednesday, April 17, from 5 pm to 8 pm, at the Méga-Plex Marché Central 18. Join us for an evening filled with networking, discussions, screenings, and cocktails, hosted by Coumba Ngom.

The panel will explore the representation of people with disabilities in cinema, highlighting both the progress made and the persistent challenges. We will discuss the importance of diversity and inclusion in the film industry, emphasizing the need to give voice to people with disabilities both in front of and behind the camera. We will also address stereotypes to avoid and the positive impact that authentic and inclusive films can have on society's perception of disability.

Panelists:

  • Mareme Ndiaye, Inclusion Advisor, CECI Volunteer in Senegal

Mareme Ndiaye is a social worker specializing in the inclusion of people with disabilities. Her experience includes coordinating projects in Senegal to promote inclusive education. A recipient of the Ford Foundation scholarship, she holds a master's degree in social work from the University of Sherbrooke.
