#CECIestmondéfi: Huge Success for CECI’s Charitable Challenge

News | Published at: May 01 2018

In celebration of CECI’s 60th anniversary, 110 runners gathered at the Parc Jean-Drapeau on April 21 and 22, 2018, for the seventh edition of the organization’s charitable challenge.

The sun was shining and spirits were high as the participants ran the distance to the finish line: 1k for the children, and either 5k, 10k or 21k for the adults. Sporting our medals and smiling with contagious enthusiasm, we used this special occasion not only to discuss our athletic prowess, but also to celebrate the results of our fundraising efforts so far.

Indeed, we are thrilled to announce that CECI has raised a grand total of $75,022 to this day! And it is far from over, as you can still support your favourite teams until May 21!

Here are the five teams proudly supporting their own project:

  • Team Armande Bégin Fund – $54,114 raised for the promotion of gender equality in Mali

  • Team PAERIZ – $12,311 raised in support of women rice parboilers in Burkina Faso

  • Team ACOSME – $4,565 raised in support of mother-child health in Haiti

  • Team Uniterra – $2,281 raised for the projects of the Uniterra program, working in 14 countries across Africa, Asia and the Americas for a more inclusive and egalitarian world

  • Team TUKOD – $1,751 raised in support of post-disaster development projects in the Philippines

As we wait for the final results to come in, we invite you to help us achieve our goal of raising $80,000 by May 21! This is your challenge!

We wish to warmly give thanks to all the participants engaged with us this year, as well as to all those who supported their fundraising efforts. Check out the pictures of the Challenge on our Facebook page!
