Months after the earthquake, the reality facing the victims is intolerable. However, people look out after one another. CECI (Centre for International Studies and Cooperation) supports initiatives from the haïtian civil society while depicting the reality of the present situation.

Building Together
In October 2005, Hurricane Stan hit Central America.
Thousands of people in Guatemala and Salvador perished, were injured, or simply disappeared. In all, close to 500,000 people were affected. Material losses were immense and an entire years harvest was wiped out.

Members of the Reconstruction and Friendship mission came to observe rebuilding activities made with the 565 000$ dollars of Canadian public donations. They quickly set to work, helping the villagers rebuild their homes and lives.

Risk mitigation activities, rehabilitation and livelihoods for development
In August 2007, Nepal's Terai region was devastated by severe monsoon flooding. More than 110,000 people were affected and lost their houses, livestock, agriculture assets. Living in water also left them vulnerable to disease.
